Karina Soria Mendoza (she/her/ella) joined the Canopy team in January 2023 as Operations Manager. We asked Karina a few questions to get to know her better.
Karina: I attended East Palo Alto Academy and College Track, and I studied some engineering and business classes at San Francisco State University. My professional career began in 2016 when I worked at College Track as a recruiter and later academic coach and was promoted to operations coordinator. Afterward, I interned as a policy and community intern with Elemental Excelerator then was promoted to a full-time Portfolio Fellow. Most of my work has been on the administrative side working with Salesforce, Google Suite, Microsoft, Adobe, and some program management tools.
Karina: Operations Manager overseeing office environment and systems, providing administrative support to Canopy’s Executive Director and Board, and providing program administrative support.
Karina: Trees are extremely important because they carry life and history. It’s our responsibility to care and nurture the nature around us.
Karina: I am excited to be a part of the administrative work at Canopy. Operations is the bread and butter of my work, and I hope I can help it continue to flourish here at Canopy.
Karina: I would have to say the sequoia trees because they have so much life.
Karina: When one door closes, two more open.
Karina: Hiking, camping, and traveling
Karina: I will love to connect with you all and hope we create great memories together!
Thanks, Karina! We’re so glad to have you on the Canopy team.
