On April 20, 2024, Executive Director JP Renaud and Community Forestry Coordinator Arlene Nuñez spoke with Manuel Ortiz on Por la libre about our tree planting work in North Fair Oaks, East Palo Alto, and Belle Haven and the importance of planting trees with community. In the interview, JP and Arlene highlight how planting trees with community members not only helps to improve tree cover and public health but builds community. When people participate in a tree planting event, they don’t just dig holes and plant trees; they make lasting connections with other people who care about the health and wellbeing of trees and people.
Before the radio interview, Canopy and Midpeninsula community members came together for an Earth Day Tree Planting in North Fair Oaks. With the help of volunteers from Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program, YMSL (Alpine), and community members from Palo Alto, Canopy planted 6 trees in North Fair Oaks. Thank you to Manuel and the Peninsula 360 Press team for inviting us to share our work with our Midpeninsula community!
