By Canopy Team on July 8, 2024

Brene Pita (she/her) joined the Canopy team in July 2024 as the Tree Survey and Data Analysis Intern. We asked Brene a few questions to get to know her better.

What were you up to before joining Canopy?

Brene: Before Canopy I was working at a non-profit preschool that focused on kid exploration in the classroom and nature.

What are you excited to be working on?

Brene: I’m super excited to be working out in the field and collecting data for the routes I will be creating.

Why do you care about trees?

Brene: Trees are important because they provide numerous vital components to humans, animals, and other plants. Whether it be providing oxygen, shade, paper, etc. trees can be seen as a backbone to our way of life!

What is your favorite tree?

Brene: I’ve always loved the smell of eucalyptus trees.

How do you think this internship will help you reach your goals?

Brene: I think working with Canopy will allow me to see and experience one of the many different career paths that align with my major and I’ll be able to gather my interests.

Favorite Quote?

Brene: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

What are your favorite hobbies?

Brene: I love sports, spending time with family/friends, birdwatching, and stargazing.

Any last words?

Brene: I’m super excited to be working with Canopy this summer!

Thanks, Brene! Welcome to the Canopy team. 🌳
