Meet Adrian Maciel, Canopy’s TUF Alumni Intern

Adrian Maciel (he/him) joined the Canopy team in July 2024 as the Teen Urban Forester (TUF) Alumni Intern. We asked Adrian a few questions to get to know him better.

What were you up to before joining Canopy?

Adrian: Before I rejoined Canopy, I was a full-time student at San Francisco State where I’m majoring in Computer Science.

What are you excited to be working on?

Adrian: I’m excited to work with the staff at Canopy once again and also to reach out to former TUFs that I used to work with.

Why do you care about trees?

Adrian: I think trees are important because they help give life. Trees also make the world look a bit more beautiful, and because of that, it helps with mental health.

What is your favorite tree?

Adrian: My favorite tree would have to be the strawberry tree.

How do you think this Canopy internship will help you reach your goals?

Adrian: It will help me reach my goal of improving my communication skills and help me get out of my comfort zone. I also hope once my internship with Canopy comes to an end, I am able to bring back a lot of old TUFs back to Canopy.
