Gabby joined Canopy in September 2020 as Community Forestry Coordinator. A certified arborist, she works in Palo Alto and Mountain View to coordinate planting events, community volunteers, and help Canopy meet tree planting goals.
We asked Gabby a few questions to get to know her better:
Gabby: I was working for an international study abroad program in Cochabamba, Bolivia called International Honors Program (IHP): Climate Change. I am half Bolivian so I was the cultural liaison/translator/field assistant for the students. The program got canceled due to COVID19 yet it took me 4 months to be able to travel home. I came back in June and found a job with Canopy. It’s a great fit because I am also a Certified Arborist.
Gabby: I am the Community Forestry Coordinator for Palo Alto and Mountain View.
Gabby: Trees provide clean air, shade, and sequester carbon; all things that make life on this planet more comfortable. They are our natural air conditioners.
Gabby: I am excited to meet my planting goals for each city through creative events and outreach.
Gabby: Umbellularia californica, California Bay Laurel; because its fragrant and its leaf litter looks like banana slugs on the ground.
Gabby: “At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.”- Maya Angelou
Gabby: I propagate plants (reproduce plants through various methods), ride my bike, listen to music
Gabby: Just excited to be part of the canopy team, and looking forward to doing good work together!
