Canopy is hiring a K-12 Environmental Education Intern! We're looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to support Canopy’s Environmental Educator in leading in-school, tree-focused, hands-on lessons at elementary schools in Ravenswood City School District and Mountain View Whisman Elementary School District. The intern will also support the Junior Forester Leader Program and Wellness Walk Program. This internship is a great opportunity to gain experience in classroom management, lesson preparation and design, and program implementation!
🌳Timeframe: September to December 2024, 10 hours/week
🌳Location: Hybrid internship based in Palo Alto, CA

Canopy wishes to thank arborist Jennifer Tso, food policy specialist Peter Ruddock, permaculturist Kris Jensen, and nutritionist Lisa Herndon for guiding a fun, educational walk through the Edible Urban Forest of Palo Alto. Walking from Johnson Park to Gamble Garden, we learned about edible trees like the black walnut, urban foraging policy, yummy plant-based recipes, and tree care. If you weren’t able to join this tree walk, you can join our next walk at the @juniormuseumzoo on 9/28 (registration link in bio) and stay tuned for more dates!

We're looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to perform regular tree care activities and support Canopy's tree planting and stewardship events. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of urban forestry, to work collaboratively with others, and to affect positive change in our communities and the environment.
🌳Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 40 hours/week
🌳Annual Salary: $60,000

On June 1, Canopy staff, planting leaders, volunteers from YMSL Alpine and community members planted 16 trees at eight sites across Mountain View. What a great way to conclude our planting season! We wish to thank our volunteers, partners and community for a wonderful 2023-2024 planting season!
