Dear friends,
Serving the Canopy community in the role of Interim Executive Director has been one of the greatest honors and privileges of my career, and I am very grateful for everyone who has supported and helped me along the way during the last few months. I am thrilled about Canopy’s exciting, new chapter under the leadership of JP, the newly appointed Executive Director.
I’m thankful for the board‘s steadfast trust and the staff‘s hard work and dedication. All this would not be possible without their efforts and our community‘s generous support with extensive outreach efforts during the search process, and continued enthusiasm for Canopy’s work in tree planting, stewardship, education and advocacy. And I am deeply grateful and inspired by all the partners that work alongside us. It takes a village!
A huge shout out to Director of Special Projects, Natalie Brubaker and Director of Operations, Shannon McDonald, who served on the Interim Executive Team with me, and other members of staff leadership, including Sr. Director of Philanthropy, Beth May, Sr. Director of Programs, Christie Galitsky, and Director of Impact, Maika Horjus. Their extensive institutional knowledge and professional expertise coupled with the entire staff team’s passion and commitment to Canopy’s work is one of the superpowers of the organization.
My heartfelt thanks to the Transition Task Force members: Board Co-chair Laura Martinez, Board Co-chair Holly Pearson, Board Vice-chair Sally O’Neil, Board Member and Task Force Chair Uriel Hernandez, Board Members Dave Armstrong and Maria Chai. The task force’s tireless efforts and the board’s unwavering support throughout the transition period since February have been critical for ensuring a smooth leadership transition.
As we welcome JP and four new board members, I am very excited about Canopy’s bright future and the fresh energy, ideas, and opportunities these new leaders will bring to Canopy’s work. I look forward to returning to being a Canopy champion supporting our communities after taking some time off to reconnect with family.
Gratefully,
Kammy Lo
