Youth Urban Forestry Stewards is a weekly volunteer program for high school students (ages 14-17) to plant trees in Palo Alto and Mountain View. Through this program, you can gain fieldwork experience, get volunteer hours, steward your environment, and making new friends! Planting locations will be posted and sent to your email closer to the session date.

Note: Your parent/guardian will need to sign your volunteer waiver. Planting locations will be emailed after registration.

Join Palo Alto Mayor Vicki Veenker, Canopy, Sibling Cities USA, and community members for a simultaneous tree planting connecting Palo Alto with its Sibling City, Bloomington, Indiana.

At the same moment, more than 2,000 miles apart, the two cities will plant matching Canadian redbud trees. The ceremonies will be connected by livestream, creating a living symbol of friendship, collaboration, and what communities can accomplish when we grow together.

On October 3rd, please join Canopy for our annual Volunteer Appreciation and Tree Awards! At this free community celebration, we will honor our 2026 Canopy Tree Awardees and you – our volunteers, partners, and supporters who dig in to champion our urban forests and communities. Hosted at All Five Preschool, festivities will include outdoor mingling, food and refreshments, interactive displays to honor our volunteers throughout the years, and a brief program recognizing our 2026 Tree Awardees.
