Explore Palo Alto's delicious and delectable flowers, leaves and fruits at our annual Edible Urban Forest Tree Walk! On this one-way walk, an expert arborist and other professionals will lead us from Johnson Park to Gamble Garden. You may even get to taste test some tree fruit and nuts during your walk!
Join Canopy and the County of Santa Clara for a community listening session to help guide the development of the Santa Clara County Urban Forest Master Plan. Your participation will influence future decisions on urban greening, help identify areas needing more trees and canopy coverage, and support community health and biodiversity in Santa Clara County.
Participants can enjoy free refreshments and receive a free fruit tree on a first-come, first-serve basis!
We will meet by the Klein Park playground. If you're not able to attend but want to share your thoughts, take the 10-minute survey in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, or Vietnamese.

Looking for a way to steward your local urban forest this summer? Participate in our Young Tree Care Survey (YTCS)!
Every summer, YTCS volunteers and Canopy staff explore Palo Alto’s neighborhoods to survey young street trees. Volunteers are given routes to assess if trees are getting enough water, mulch, and pruning and to note any damage. Contact [email protected] with questions.

The San Francisco Bay Area is a vibrant and unique urban matrix — a patchwork of diverse communities, microclimates, and environmental challenges that demand localized, collaborative solutions. To ensure the resilience and equity of our urban forests, we invite you to join Planting Hope, a convening focused on connecting distributed efforts to advance urban and community forestry in our region.
We believe this is a critical moment. One tree can change a landscape — one conversation can change the future. We invite our regional colleagues and advocates to address the challenges and opportunities that define urban forestry in the Bay Area. Together, we aim to identify actionable goals to advance urban forestry through science, equity, climate action, and community empowerment.
Planting Hope is co-presented by Stanford University as an Office of Community Engagement Regional Forum, periodic events that showcase regional collaboration on timely topics and advance Stanford's mission.

On September 20th, please join Canopy in celebrating our Champions of Hope at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party and Tree Awards! At this free community celebration, we will honor our 2025 Canopy Tree Awardees and the volunteers, partners, and supporters who dig in to help plant hope for tomorrow. Hosted at Bloomhouse in East Palo Alto, festivities will include indoor/outdoor mingling, refreshments from local businesses, interactive displays to honor our volunteers, and a brief program toasting our 2025 Tree Awardees. Save the date and stay tuned for the reveal of our awardees!
