  • "Trees to Plant Now" Talk at Gamble Garden

    Ever struggled to decide what tree is right for your yard? You're not alone! Canopy has been helping Palo Alto residents plant the right tree in the right place for over 20 years. On April 6th, Canopy staff Michael Hawkins and Elise Willis, both certified arborists, will present a talk for Gamble Garden about the top 10 trees to plant now for our area, along with tree-specific tips for selection, planting, and maintenance. There is a $45 fee for general admission, or $35 for Gamble Garden members.

You’ll also join a dynamic team of pruning volunteers that help maintain young trees throughout the community.

    Session one in Canopy's three-part interactive training (August 16th, 23rd, and 30th).
    Are you passionate about trees, the environment, and education? Do you enjoy working with kids? This three-part interactive training will prepare you to work as an Education volunteer with Canopy, exploring the wonderful world of trees through hands-on science lessons with elementary and middle school students.

    The training will take place on three consecutive Wednesdays:
    Part 1: Wednesday, August 16th, 10:00 am - 12:30pm
    Part 2: Wednesday, August 23rd, 10:00 am - 12:30pm
    Part 3: Wednesday, August 30th, 10:00 am - 12:30pm

    Sessions will cover teaching methodology, cultural sensitivity, and three of Canopy's education modules. Following the training, you’ll have a chance to sign-up for volunteer dates throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
