Celebrate California Arbor Week with Canopy and the Palo Alto Art Center! Outdoor activities include two arborist-led tree walks at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., arts and crafts, a “Stump an Arborist” booth where you can ask your most challenging tree questions, and more!
You can even head indoors to the Rinconada Library next door for a coloring station during the festival hours or join a tree-themed storytime at 11:00 a.m. Check out some of their favorite books about trees that you can borrow while you’re there!
Canopy’s tree walk outside the Palo Alto Art Center and Library includes diverse and beautiful trees at this former Palo Alto city hall location: Jelecote Pine, Red Horsechestnut, Chinese Elm, Plume Cryptomeria, Crape Myrtle, and many others!
Our tree walk leaders are ISA Certified Arborists™ equipped to answer all your questions on this interactive tour.
Artist Paz de la Calzada is our special guest, adding an artist’s perspective to what the arborists share. After the 11:00 a.m. tree walk, she’ll lead participants in a gallery tour of her art project (picture on right) inspired by El Palo Alto, the oldest redwood tree in the area that gives the city of Palo Alto its name. Learn more about the artwork at the Palo Alto Art Center website.
With limited space due to Covid-19 protocols, registration is required to attend one of these two arborist-led walks.
