Canopy’s work protecting the urban forest and educating its communities has been recognized by corporations and community organizations. GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards is a people’s choice award for the nonprofit sector where volunteers, donors, and people served cast their vote through reviews to express their appreciation. Canopy was awarded the prestigious 2016 GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Award.

Bay Area Green Business Award

The Bay Area Green Business Program, coordinated by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), awarded Canopy with the 2014 Bay Area Green Business Award for meeting high standards of environmental performance including: conserving resources, preventing pollution, minimizing waste, and reducing carbon footprint.

Canopy was honored and grateful to have our programs recognized with a 2014 Silicon Valley Water Conservation Award. The selection committee reported that they “were very impressed with the breadth and quality of Canopy’s programs with respect to water conservation — from planting climate appropriate trees, to experimenting with new technologies to conserve more water, to influencing city policies.”

Canopy received the The Tall Tree Award in 2008. Presented annually by the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and the Palo Alto Weekly, the award honors organizations and individuals who have contributed significantly to the betterment of the Palo Alto community in a manner that is “quietly, steadily and unheralded.” Click here to see photos from the Tall Tree Award Dinner.

In 2007 Canopy was honored with the The Home Depot Foundation’s NeighborWoods Award, given in partnership with the Alliance for Community Trees, for building healthy and sustainable communities.

Canopy was awarded Stanford University’s 2012 Community Partnership Award for “tackling real world problems and advancing the public good in neighboring cities.” Read the Stanford announcement or see the awards ceremony video.

Each year the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund facilitated by Silicon Valley Community Foundation raises money to support programs serving families and children in the Palo Alto area. Canopy was honored to be awarded a Holiday Fund grant in 2012. Over the last 18 years the Holiday Fund has raised and distributed more than $4 million to local nonprofits that serve children, families, seniors and others.
